Founded in 2019 by Wanda Swan and Dr. Raphael Coleman, a nationally-recognized college health professional and thought leader in cultivating equity-minded health promotion strategies, Practademics is a Georgia-based consulting and training company that works with organizations to cultivate socially-just practices that grow and extend their capacity to better create and sustain an anti-racist working environment. Specifically, the company grounds its work in the belief that education is key to unravelling all forms oppression; present and future social justice work must be grounded in the history of movements toward liberation; and that holistic well-being includes an unapologetic affirmation of one’s identities. Through resistance-centered individual and organizational capacity building and policies and systems consultations, Practademics co-creates an environment that is socially just and safe for individuals of historically-minoritized identities.

Dr. Raphael Coleman, co-founder, is a national award-winning public health trained scholar-practitioner with over 10 years of experience across multiple functional areas in higher education. His scholarship and practice pay attention to equity-minded health promotion practices in higher education contexts; the academic and social experiences of Black queer and transgender students; and cultivating individual and organizational resilience to support student well-being.
Wanda Swan, co-founder, is a nationally-recognized thought leader in survivor advocacy, anti-oppression work, restorative justice and violence prevention. An advocate, prevention strategist, speaker, published scholar, anti-oppression coach, and on-air personality, she has been deeply embedded in the anti-violence movement as a professional practitioner for over a decade. Wanda’s work has spanned across higher education, local and state agencies, and non-profits dedicated to survivor resiliency. As both a curator and co-conspirator of systems disruption and research that informs her field of practice, Wanda is co-founder of and currently holds co-leadership roles in professionals organizations like Campus Advocacy and Prevention Professionals Association (CAPPA) and The Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention Education and Response Knowledge Community (NASPA SRVPER KC).
